Three ways to style The Skinny

Three Mustard Made Skinny lockers stand side by side. From the left, the first is Mustard, then Blush then Ocean. To the left is a sofa with a wooden, timber frame, beige padding and cushions of various shapes and colours sit on top.

We have a lot of love for The Skinny locker, especially when there are three all lined up in a row.

One of our favourite (and most popular) looks of all time? A lineup of tall, slender Skinny lockers standing shoulder to shoulder. And there are SO many ways to combine them. 220, to be exact. (Yes, we got the calculator out for that one.) But with that many options, how do you actually choose?

Allow us to help. We have pulled together three of our favourite, gloriously simple ways to style The Skinny side by side.

First, a quick refresher. The Skinny is our narrowest locker, and she comes in all 12 Mustard colours, from soft neutrals like Chalk to bold characters like Berry, Poppy and Mustard. That is where the 220 comes from: 12 colours, lined up three at a time. So think of the three looks below as your starting points, not your rules.

Three Mustard Made Skinny lockers stand side by side. They are all the colour, White. There are terracotta pots with green plants sitting on top, as well as stacks of magazines.

Three Mustard Made Skinny lockers stand side by side. They are all the colour, Olive. They are in front of a light blue-panelled wall. There is a single bed to the left of the lockers, with orange bed linen. A plywood floating bedside table sits beside the bed. There is a light fixture and Baby Yoda Lego figurine on top.

Three of a kind: matching Skinny lockers

There are plenty of words for this look. Classic. Sophisticated. Nostalgic. Whatever you call it, we love it. Three Skinnys in the same colourway give you subtle, minimalist vibes with maximum storage impact.

Stick to the neutrals for something truly timeless, or turn up the volume with a pop of colour. Becca's all-time favourite is a lineup of Olive Skinnys, but you could go properly bold with Berry or Poppy.

Ombre and tonal locker combos

Keen to add a little depth to your palette? Ombre is your hombre (sorry). This gentle shift from light to deep, all within one colour family, is a soft and beautiful way to layer colour into a space.

The trick is to stay in one family and let the tones melt from light to deep. Think cool blues, earthy greens, a run of warm pinks, or a sunny yellow easing into a soft neutral. Whatever family you land on, a tight, tonal range like this always gives you that pulled-together feeling, with barely any effort required.

Mix and match colourful lockers

Our third styling strategy is the mix and match, and it is our favourite way to get as much colour into a room as humanly possible. Can't pick just one? Have them all. Picture bright, eye-catching pops that make a proper statement.

The possibilities really are endless here. Go warm, go cool, play with pastels, pick out the primaries, or keep it to neutrals. Mix and match until you land on a palette that is entirely your own. The whole Mustard rainbow is your playground.

How to choose your Skinny locker combo

Not sure where to start? Three quick steps.

Measure your space. Work out how many Skinnys fit side by side where you want them (the dimensions are on each product page), so you know whether you are styling two, three or a whole row.

Pick a starting colour. Choose one colour you love, then build around it. Repeat it for a three of a kind, step lighter or darker for an ombre, or contrast it for a mix and match.

Choose your strategy. Match for a calm, pulled-together look, ombre for a soft gradient, or mix and match for maximum colour. There really are no wrong answers here.

We love a trio of Skinnys, however you choose to style them. Although, why stop at three? Four, five, six, or maybe just round up the whole rainbow and have all 12. (If only we had a living room big enough.)
