Nothing says ‘happy holidays’ quite like getting the good tableware out.
Whether you’re hosting Christmas lunch, celebrating Friendsmas or just getting into the festive spirit, one way to set the mood is to start by setting the table.
A beautiful tablescape is the perfect centrepiece for those special occasions that bring everyone together over a meal. Someone who knows a thing or two about celebrating? Fellow colour lover and hostess with the mostess, Lana Wilman. We love Lana’s approach to holidays: “I genuinely just love an excuse to follow a theme with decor and fill my house with my favourite people over yummy food and drinks!”
In the spirit of the season, we popped round to Lana’s gorgeous Surrey home to see how she’s celebrating (with a little Mustard, of course.)
On theme
One thing Lana certainly isn’t afraid of is leaning in to a theme. “I will take on ANY excuse for a festive season tradition,” she tells us. When she’s not hosting Friendsmas you might find her wearing her Christmas pyjamas and curling up with a steaming Christmas mug of tea. But when she puts her hosting hat on, the vibe is more is more! Case in point? Yes, those are little peppermint candies on her tablecloth. And yes, that is a glass wreath on her candle holder, tiny red bows on her candles, glass sweets on her napkin rings and napkins that are embroidered with a cheerful ‘cheers!’
“I always love to choose flowers based on the season or reason for celebrating,” Lana says, “as well as a fun napkin or napkin holder to tie in with the theme.”
It’s all about the details for Lana. A closer look at her gorgeous Christmas tree reveals ornaments that pay homage to the things she and her fiance Drew love. “Our tree is decorated with nods to our favourite things, from foodie bits to a golf club for Drew, and of course our dog Odie!”

When they’re not in use, Lana stores her favourite hosting pieces inside her Olive Collector. It’s the perfect way to keep her collection of tableware on display and bringing the joy, with fluted glass doors and sides for a subtle blur effect. The Baskets in Poppy add a little burst of festive colour, while keeping things tidy on the shelves. We also spotted The Flutes, our signature Mustard and Blush glasses, on Lana’s holiday table. Her favourite drink to say cheers with? “ALWAYS a margarita - no matter the season!”
When it comes to hosting, Lana’s top tip is simple and lovely – make it personal. There’s no wrong way to celebrate the festive season, as long as it’s bringing you joy. That said, we can’t argue with Lana’s approach: “fun kitschy Christmas forever!”
