Blue and green should always be seen

Blue and green should always be seen

If you've ever heard the saying, 'Blue and green should never be seen,' well, we hate to go all Elle Woods on you — but we object!

This colour combo is a Mustard staple, and it also happens to be Becca's all-time favourite. "Blue and green is the colour palette I always gravitate towards for my home (and to be honest, my wardrobe, too!)" says Becca. "With a business to run and three boys to raise, so much in my life is fast-paced, loud and busy. Surrounding myself with the soothing colours of nature helps keep me grounded and calm."

If you're ready to break the colour rule book with us, let's look at some of our favourite blue and green colour pairings.

The Ledge in Ocean + The Standard in Sage

pass the pastels

With their soft grey undertones and gentle pops of colour, Ocean and Sage are a match made in heaven. Pair them together for a wash of colour that's subtle yet invigorating, perfect for a coastal cool look or to bring the outside in. Feeling adventurous? Mix in your favourite pastel shades like Blush, Butter and Lilac for a fairy floss look.

The Shorty in Olive against a Navy background.

dark + moody

Like a chocolate mudcake or a wheel of brie, some things are just better when they're rich and full of depth. Olive and Navy are moody and deep, and make a beautifully bold combination. Olive's earthy tones are grounding while Navy's vibrant marine hue references the sea. Together, it's nature's best – dialled up to ten!

The Midi in Ocean + The Ledge in Olive

light + shade

If mixing it up is more your style, take a leaf out of Mother Nature's playbook and experiment with light and shade. Add a touch of Navy to a soft Sage space for a pop of colour, or let Olive shine against Ocean's tranquil blue. Blue and green sit right next to each other on the colour wheel, and in nature (think leaves against the sky or the trees by the water), so it makes sense that they work so beautifully inside, too!
