20 American Instagram accounts to follow for home inspiration
Favourite Follows: American Homes
From stunning, airy spaces in the desert to cool, colourful apartments, there are so many people we follow on Instagram with incredible homes. While we aren’t able to jet over to America ourselves right now, we are living vicariously through our feeds and picturing lockers landing across the grand old US of A.
We have compiled 20 of our favourite American creators into this list - it was hard to pick just a few but we hope these dreamy accounts give you all of the home and life inspo your heart desires!
Take a look at some of the accounts that stop our scroll.
@honeyidressedthepug
Talk about cute! Maitri and her pug Ari live in New York City, and their feed is full of pretty pastel homewares and matching dog-and-owner outfits! There’s a little something for everyone: cute pups, DIY home transformations and New York wanderlust content. We love when this adorable pair pop up on our home feed!
@dazeyden
It’s no secret that we’re lovers of colourful interiors - have you seen our lockers? But if you are a head-to-toe bright and bold colour lover, the home of @danidazey will really float your boat! Dani shares the interiors of her LA home @dazey_bungalow and her colourful @dazey_desert_house. Every square is filled with a rainbow and it makes our eyes so happy.
@laybabylay
This one's for you people with little ones, if you don’t have enough kids’ interior inspo already (in fact, even if you do!) then you should hop on over to Joni’s page. Her Insta squares are filled with beautifully styled and designed pastel children’s decor inspiration straight from her own home. She has four very lucky littles who get to enjoy those spaces too! If you have kids or if you don’t, she’s a great one to follow for home ideas, inspo and hacks. That striped ceiling is just wow!
@abeautifulmess
We have been following Elsie and Emma over at A Beautiful Mess for a really long time, over a decade! We love that they are sisters, just like us, doing their business thing and doing it really well! Not to mention their blog is just a great place to get lost in - their motto is ‘stay home and make something’ so if DIY, home, craft and baking are your things then get on over there. They will be right up your street!
@aaricanichole
Anyone else find that when they go to a thrift store (or a charity shop or op shop depending on where you are!), they can never find anything they like but they always see other people (friends or online!) somehow managing to find absolute gems? Aarica is one of those people, her feed gives us absolute vintage clothing envy. She knows how to find a good vintage piece and fills her feed with beautiful clothes and happy interiors. We love following her!
@ohjoy
Joy is the founder of the beautiful, colourful @OhJoyCo and her own Insta feed is just as, well... joyful! She gives us really lovely peeks into her home and studio, which are of course full of colour and expertly decorated, plus family life, fashion and business. Oh, and a giant monstera plant that we would love to steal please! An all round good follow for the kind of content Instagram was made for in our books!
@newdarlings
Christina and Robert’s Arizona home is full of all the earthy neutral interiors inspo you can ever imagine. When we were creating our Sage, this is the kind of home we were imagining it in - by that, we mean a space that is full of warmth, wood, soft textures, plants and other greens and sandy tones. Throw in some serious outfit inspo and family life and you can’t really go wrong.
@justinablakeney
Queen of the Jungalow, Justina blends bold earthy shades and jewel tones with lots of plants and bohemian textures. Her home makes us think of vibrant interiors from Morocco, India and Mexico. Becca has been pinning her green tiled kitchen on Pinterest for literally years! Also check out @thejungalow for more inspiration and to shop the Jungalow look for yourself.
@erikacarlock
We love scrolling through the pretty squares over on Erika's feed. She seriously knows how to make the beautiful details in a room add up to one insta-perfect yet cozy space. Erika also rocks the small biz game with her boho homeware store shophesby.com so the best part is, you can literally recreate her awesome style in your own space. Adding that straight to our basket!
@hothouse.jungle
Plants, anyone? Donovan’s home puts our 3 dying office plants to shame (Marc is on paternity leave and he was our designated plant parent!) His house really is a jungle of amazing greenery interspersed with carefully curated interiors. The neutrals and greens palette is one of our favourites so of course we fell in love with this space! We wish we were green fingered enough to have a home like this - instead we live vicariously through Donovan’s Instagram account!
@studiodiy
One thing we have discovered about America is that blogging seems to be so much more of a *thing* there than in the UK or Australia. Great news for us and our little blog! But also means our eyes have been opened to a whole new world (sings Aladdin) of blogging greatness. Cue Studio DIY and her treasure trove of a blog! All of the homey crafts, lists, ideas, tips and hacks, all beautifully and colourfully presented, of course. We are so here for her kids' rainbow room!
@vintagerevivals
This girl can DIY. Her feed is like watching the best home makeover show as she takes us along for the ride renovating her home ‘The Merc'. We give her top marks for cool tile choices, finding ingenious ways to add more plants and the courage to tackle really big projects!
@raveinteriordesign
Do you ever fancy trying a bold patterned wallpaper but get too scared to commit? Melanie’s home is full of the prettiest of florals and bursts of mustard and blush, which is totally up our alley. It’s always fun to have a peep at the home of an interior designer and this account will not disappoint.
@sarahshermansamuel
Oooh we just wish we could hop right into Sarah’s feed and pinch her style, she’s got a lot of it!! Her creativity, well-balanced palettes and sheer beauty of her work is such an inspiration. Sarah has created some beautiful collaborative ranges from handles to rug and lighting. She’s a design powerhouse that you should definitely be following too.
@meganzietz
If a fusion of sophistication, bold colours and bohemian textures sounds like your style, then let us point you in Megan's direction. Her feed is where cool interiors meets fun and her snippets into her home just make us so happy! Now to work out where in our office we can put some squiggly pink wallpaper..!
@bradytolbert
If only our homes were as clean, airy and amazingly well designed as Brady's. Brady is a designer so we guess his amazing home is to be expected, but. we can't help being a little bit jealous! His style is monochrome with added warmth, a sense of minimalist but without being sparse. He not only shares parts of his home but design projects he has worked on too - inspiration coming from all corners!
@reserve_home
Another New Yorker who makes us want to up sticks and set up camp in the big apple! Mallory has taken the grandeur of her NYC apartment, paired it with some really bold modern pieces (hello pink sofa!) combined with ornate gold detailing and it all just works SO well. We're a little bit in love.
@athomewithashley
We love a bit of DIY decor (have you seen our DIYs on the blog?) and Ashley's Insta and blog is a source of endless inspiration. Her squares are filled with all of the rainbows, including one incredible ombre staircase! Check her out if your eyes are always drawn to pastels and you love a bit of an upcycle!
@britdotdesign
'Desert decor' is a real American interiors trend that we have seriously loved getting to know - it even strikes us as a little bit Australian! Lots of bright, airy spaces with earthy colour palettes including pale pops of colour. It is muted, a little bit boho and seriously beautiful - Brit just does it so well!
@lonefoxhome
Last, but absolutely by no means least, is the online home of Drew. We love that his home has a lot of richer, deeper tones and wooden features - if Slate and Olive are your faves then you will love Drew's style! Not just the pretty pictures but you get all the behind the scenes too, he has a youtube channel (you can take a look here) and this guy knows his way around a reel!
Did you hear the news? We have officially launched in America! That’s right, we now have our very own team on the ground in the grand old U S of A, ready to ship lockers to all 50 states!
Not following us yet? Hop to @mustardmade for a scroll through our rainbow of lockers.
